Ray's Halloween Party
Today we went out to Deer Park to our friend, Ray's, place for a Halloween get-together. It was mostly people from Trav's work, but luckily I knew most of them! It was a great time, even though not many showed. I'm guessing b/c of all the rain and being such a crazy, busy day. We had fun nevertheless. We took out the 4wheeler, played some ping pong (my new fave), threw some darts (so not my fave!), ate some yummies, and watched some scary flicks on TV. And oh yeah, ate some more! Thanks guys for all the fun, sorry we had to leave early! I blame Trav (he has to work Sun am)! BTW, thanks to Marg & Joe for having Austin over so we could have some adult time :)
Wait for me Trav!
Carving Pumpkins
Our favorite part of Halloween has got to be carving pumpkins! Austin's not a huge fan of gutting them, but he enjoys the rest of it! We love going online and finding really cool patterns, then bringing them to life (or death if the case may be!)! This year has all been about The Nightmare Before Christmas for A, the soundtrack has been playing in our house everyday and that's what he chose to do for his school's Pumpkin Carving Night. But for our carving at home, he decided to match his costume this year and do a Scream one. Which is funny, since he's NEVER seen the movie (and hopefully won't for a long time!). Trav chose a really cool flame one and I chose to be a little mean (no comments on that people!).....
My little sacrifice....
Austin's Class Halloween Party
Yesterday was a little bittersweet for both Austin and me. It was his class Halloween party (oh sorry, HARVEST party!). Luckily his school is one that still allows the parties. We have to call it Harvest, but they can wear costumes (actually all day, w/o masks), and do Halloween things. The four of us on the PTO board arrange all the money for the parties and organize all the room parents. I happen to be Austin's again this year, so I planned his party and ran it (with Trav's help since it was on a Friday). Austin's last one!!! Since he's off to middle school next year, there will be no more holiday parties. :( So we went out with a bang. I didn't get a very good response from the parents in his class, so I pretty much did it all myself. The kiddos had two games, Wrap a Mummy (the kids pick someone to wrap with toilet paper and Mrs D picked the "best" mummy), GHOST bingo and of course lots of treats and Halloween music. Luckily, a few parents showed at the last minute, so it went wonderfully! Since Trav & I both had the day off, we actually spent the whole day volunteering in the class (I've been doing it twice a week this year for a couple hours each day). I absolutely love working in the class, it's so fun working one on one with these great kids. On Friday, they even had a record number of them pass their "Times" test, which is one of the things I'd been working on with them. Austin included! AWESOME job Mrs. D's kiddos! It was fun day, and Austin really had fun, esp since he was one of the mummies!
