Crossing Over

Every year in Cub Scouts, the boys who have completed their "rank" get to cross over to the next one. This year Austin was a Bear, so he now gets to move up to a Webelo. These are some pictures from the ceremony. As you can see, they use an actual bridge to signify the crossing. This year our leader also put stripes on their faces! Gavin and Garrett were obviously there too, so we thought it would be neat if Gavin participated too. He sure enjoyed it! Congrats Austin on a great year of Scouts!

Austin's (and Trav's) 1st Game

Last Wednesday was the boys' first game. It was a great game and Travis and Austin both had fun. Austin had a couple hits, one was really sweet, but ended up being a foul (barely!) and the other caused a couple scores (RBIs?). There's a lot of new rules and expectations for this level, but now we have a better idea what they are and plan to smoke 'em tomorrow! (Thanks Margo for coming and supporting us... again! You're the best!)

Baseball Time

Baseball season is here! This is Austin's second year playing and so far he still loves it! Although this year, he's moved up a level, so now he's on a "kid pitch" team with lots of new rules! When it was time to start our practices, we got a call from the league, apparently no one was willing to be head coach, so they asked Trav if he would be do it (he'd signed up to assist). Even though he was a little nervous (he never played in school, etc) not knowing all the ins and outs, he said he would. I think he's done wonderful and the boys seem to really have fun. So now three nights a week, we live and breathe baseball! Good times :)

Austin's New Bed

The Rigbys recently bought a new bed for themselves and they were nice enough to pass down their "old" bed (I swear it's nicer then ours!) to Austin. So now Mr. Lucky has a like-new queen sized bed!. We went shopping yesterday and found him a cute headboard and frame that matched his furniture perfectly.

Happy Birthday Honey!

BBQ

Sunday, we decided to have a little BBQ at our house. Margo, Joe, Gavin and Garrett came over to meet my dad and spend some time getting to know him (and vice versa!). We had some hamburgers, hot dogs, beans, salad, watermelon, brownies, Otter Pops and of course, roasted marshmellows. The weather was perfect, as it has been all weekend, so we spent the whole day outside - eating, playing with bubbles (always a hit!) and visiting. Thank you Margo & Joe for spending the day with us, getting to know Dad. I know he enjoyed it as well.

Lake Roosevelt

My favorite childhood memories are those of spending time on our boat, so it was extra special to be able to take my dad out on the boat Saturday. We went to Lake Roosevelt and spent the whole day there. We brought Gavin along as well since he's become quite the boating fan. We took a cooler with lunch and drinks and cruised the lake. Travis skied, knee boarded and rode the tube. Austin also went for a couple rides on the tube, each time liking it more and more. Gavin even got in the action going for a tube ride with Trav. It was a glorious day and only those who refused to wear sunscreen got a little burned (you know who you are!)!

"Are there not instructions in English???" Yes, the boys in my life need instructions for blowing up a ski tube! lol

Visit With Dad

As many of you know, it's been a long time since I've seen my dad. In fact, Travis and Austin had never even met him. But finally, we remedied that when he came to visit this past weekend. He flew in on Friday afternoon from Maryland and is flying back Tuesday. It was a wonderful weekend. We were able to talk and really get to know each other again. It'll be a little hard, with him living so far away, but I really hope this weekend was the start to a close relationship with him. Austin got so attached to him over these last few days, he was almost unable to say goodbye to him today. He broke down in tears when we said Grandpa Phil was leaving to go back home. So thank you Dad for taking that big step coming here. We were so happy to have you here and hope to see you again soon.
