Pinewood Derby 2010

Ahh, the Pinewood Derby.... our favorite of the Cub Scout activities! It was this morning and what fun it was! It started out a little scary (more details later in the post!), but ended up being a great success and Austin had tons of fun. His car did pretty well and I happen to think it looks awesome! Jamie (Jeff!) had fun telling kids to watch out b/c halfway through the race it could transform and knock the other cars out!

You'll notice Justin has a bandage on his hand. While trying to take off some weights from his son's car during set up, he happened to JAM the chisel into his palm! Jamie (Lynn!) rushed him to the ER where he ended up getting 7 stitches! "I think we'd all agree Justin has shown us here what NOT TO do with a chisel!" But what a trooper though, after receiving the stitches (and pain meds of course!) he returned to the races!

We couldn't not give him a Boo-Boo award to remember this day by!

Spokane Symphony

Today was Austin's class field trip to go see the Spokane Symphony. I took the day off so I could help out, I always love going along! We actually went to the North Idaho College in Coeur d 'Alene, ID to see them. It was pretty cool. The conductor was really funny and held the kids' attention while explaining what all the instruments were called and why they make the sounds they do. Classical music isn't exactly our fav, but Austin and I were both pretty impressed!

Cub Scout Hike

This morning, Trav and Austin went on a hike with the Cub Scout Webelos up around the Dishman Hills. They had a great time and luckily the weather was absolutely beautiful!

Fortunately, Trav didn't take a picture of when A was picking the poor statue's nose!!

Stinky Teacher Game

Last night was Broadway Elem's annual Stinky Teacher basketball game. It's held as a fundraiser for the 5th grade class to pay for their field trip to WSU (Austin will be going next year!). Always a good time, it's so fun to watch the teachers outside of the class, really having fun. It was a close game, but in the end.... the Swishers won! Go Swishers :-)
