Cub Scout Day Camp

This past week was Austin's Day Camp for his Cub Scout Pack at Camp Sekani (located on Upriver Drive). This year it was a full five days, as opposed to last year's two. I wondered how they'd stretch everything into five days when I first heard how long this year's camp was..... now I know! They had TONS more activities! Seeing as I don't work during the summer, except picture jobs, I volunteered to oversee our Pack (any pack was able to come to this camp). There were a few times I questioned my sanity for doing that! Seriously though, it was tons of fun for Austin and all the other boys (we had eight total). I actually had a blast too. And thank goodness for two of the dads, Jamie and Justin! Jamie was there four days and Justin, three, so they were a HUGE help. Trav was even able to come on Friday to see what all the craziness was about. We got to shoot BB Guns, launch bottle rockets, shoot bow & arrows, learn about nature and science, make some crafts, and much, much more. We even had some guest visitors that taught us all about how life was as a Plains Indian (man, were they funny!) On the last day we had an all-out water war. It was planned that the Packs would create their own Western towns (the week's theme was the Wild West) out of cardboard and then launch wet sponges at each other. However, there was a challenge to instead have the staff participate and "war" with the Scouts. Needless to say, we accepted! It was a dirty mess (I didn't get any pix of the actual war since I was a "little" wet), but I'm sure you get the drift! I'm not sure who won (I say the staff, but Austin disagrees!). The week was hot (except Monday, of course, when it poured on us!) but we had a wonderful time!

  1. This looks like it was so much fun. I can't believe in just a few years this will be me and my boys. Crazy, thanks for sharing.
